What Is the Deadline for Round Two Admissions?
Currently, the second round of admissions is underway, and the deadline is set for tomorrow, August 30, at 4:59 PM. If you have been allotted a seat, make sure to complete the fee payment by that time; otherwise, you will lose your seat. Unlike Round One, where the deadline was extended to 11:59 PM, there is no information yet from DU’s admission branch on whether the link for fee payment will remain open until midnight this time. Therefore, it’s safer to assume the 4:59 PM deadline stands.
Will There Be a Third Round of Admissions?
Many of you have asked whether there will be a third round. The answer is yes, there will be a third round, as confirmed by the Registrar of Delhi University. The modalities for the third round will be revealed in a day or two. However, for now, the focus is on completing the second round, which ends on August 30.
What Was the Major Issue in Round Two?
The primary problem in Round Two has been the “Verification Pending” status that many students faced. This issue was raised with the DU admission branch, and since then, there has been a significant improvement. Many students received their fee payment links late at night, and they successfully completed the process.
How Many Admissions Have Been Confirmed So Far?
As of 9 PM on August 29, data from DU’s admission branch reveals that the total number of admissions has surpassed the sanctioned seats. To be precise, 72,235 confirmed admissions have been recorded against 71,600 sanctioned seats. This marks the first time that the tally has crossed the number of sanctioned seats.

Does This Mean Admissions Are Over?
While it might appear that admissions are nearing their end, the data requires a closer look. There are still 2,714 students who have opted for an upgrade, meaning they are waiting for better options. Additionally, the total number of “Freeze” admissions—where students have decided to stick with their current seat—is increasing and currently stands at 39,891.
What Does the Growing “Freeze” Number Indicate?
When Round Two allocation was first announced, the number of freeze cases was 2,829 as of August 25. Now, in just four days, it has jumped to 27,714. This surge suggests that many students are deciding to stay with their current allocation rather than risk waiting for better options. Therefore, it can be concluded that approximately 40,000 admissions have been finalized in DU so far, barring any changes in the upgrade movements in the coming days.

What About the Third Round? Will There Still Be Opportunities?
Delhi University has made it clear that a third round will happen. However, there is some anxiety among students and parents regarding what opportunities will remain in Round Three. One parent asked whether their son, who scored around 200 out of 800 marks, could still get a seat in a science course.
The course allotment system is based on the cut-off set for each course, your merit, your category, and your preferences. This time, tie-breaker rules have also been applied. Before the third round, DU will release a list of vacant seats. Until then, you can continue to select the “Upgrade” or “Freeze” options based on the vacant seats list that will be published.
What Can We Expect in Round Three?
In Round One, the list of vacant seats showed around 17,700 seats. We predicted that the number would exceed 20,000, and it turned out to be 24,000+. So, there is no need to feel disheartened just yet.
