Delhi University has released its academic calendar but only for selected courses. This comes after speculations of delay in the university’s admission process which had a big impact last year.

Courses and New Session Start Date
The new academic calendar is for postgraduate courses, B.Tech courses, and the newly introduced 5-year integrated courses which include BA LLB (Hons) and BBA LLB (Hons). These courses are set to start from 1st August 2024.
Background and Admission Delay
Last year, DU’s undergraduate session started on 16th August, significantly delayed by a month due to the prolonged admission process. Many attributed this delay to the late results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) although the results were announced on 15th July, giving a month for admission. Despite this, admission went on till October and many seats were left vacant.
Current Admission and Future Expectations
Admission for postgraduate courses is ongoing, second round of seat allocation has been updated. Students are expected to accept their allocated seats as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience in the new session.
Course Timetable and Exam Schedule
The Academic calendar shows that classes for the above courses will start from 1st August to 4th November and then there will be a mid-semester break. Theory exams will start from 10th December 2024.
Challenges and Improvements Required
Although the academic calendar has been released, there are still concerns about the overall preparedness of Delhi University. Historically, classes would start by mid-July and most of the admissions would be over by early July. But this time, the timeline has been shifted significantly.

While the postgraduate calendar is out, students and faculty are waiting for the undergraduate calendar. University officials have assured to follow a uniform calendar in future sessions.
